A few notes:
- This is not a 'top-25 'poll or power poll. The point of these rankings is not to determine who I actually think are the best teams, but to approximate the NCAA's official regional rankings that are released starting in early February.
- These rankings attempt to account for in-region winning percentage (primary criterion), in-region strength of schedule (primary), results versus regionally ranked teams (primary), division III winning percentage (secondary criterion), and division III strength of schedule (secondary). It does not currently account for head-to-head matchups or results versus common opponents (both primary criteria), so feel free to ‘adjust’ the rankings accordingly.
- I have changed the way I 'award' the Pool A bid. I'm now giving it to the team with the best conference record. In the case of a tie, it goes to the team with the higher RPI (versus all D-III teams).
- The pre-championship manual has been released, and the home/away multipliers are still in effect, but this year they carry a different (better) weight. For away games, a multiplier of 1.25 is being applied to SOS, and for home games, a multiplier of 0.75 is used.
This is the last update that I’ll do without the benefit of including the “results versus regionally ranked opponents” criterion. There will be some shifting (especially in the NE region, I would suspect) once we find out exactly who’s ranked.
